Music for my ears

Music makes my life worth living. It also weakens other noises around you. Like the next-door-neighbour talking or just making other noises. Every other noise other than music disturbs me. I keep the radio on while I sleep, but if I hear talking before I do, it annoys me. I listen to music every day, so you can say it’s my life. I have Spotify Premium, so I can listen to it without ads. Those are annoying. It cost 10.99 euros per month, but that’s better than nothing. I can listen to songs that aren’t played on the radio. All those nostalgic music tunes. Love it.

I still buy CD’s from time to time, because I like the covers and the leaflets that go with them. Without music, movies and TV series wouldn’t be the same. Imagine them without sound. I can’t even. I usually don’t listen to classical music, but when it comes to drama, then it’s the best. My favourite music is 1980s music. We have a radio station that only plays 80s music. Sometimes they play too much of the same though, which can be a bit annoying. They have spoiled a few songs that I used to love, but now I don’t. One of them is ‘Living on a Prayer’ by Bon Jovi. Maybe the radio station doesn’t have the right to play anything else. They do play others song by them too, but especially that song. When I was 18, I went to drivers school and thought I would have a car, so I could blast my favourite songs. But I didn’t finish it. Now when I’m in driving school again and when I get the licence, I probably won’t play music that loud. At least not so everyone else can hear. I hate it when young people drive, and noise is blasting out of their cars. It’s not music, only annoying noise. There are differences between noise and music, you know.

I hardly listen to music outside with headphones, because then you won’t hear the birds singing. You see people with headphones on while they walk or cycle, and they don’t hear or see anything. It can be dangerous to walk like that in traffic. People walk around holding their phones in their hand, and even young kids do that. First of all, it looks silly and secondly you can get hit by a car if you only concentrate on your phone. They usually listen to music, and they don’t stop when they change the music. If I look at my mobile, I stop walking and then put it away. Mobile can’t be that important, so you want to risk your life for it. If you have a death wish, then just go ahead. Music is my life, but I don’t want to jeopardize my health with it. Not forgetting losing my hearing. It’s still good because I haven’t spoilt it in my youth by listening to music too loud. My hearing is so good. I can hear things that aren’t there. Even in a middle of a conversation, I can hear noises in the background. I don’t know if it’s because my hearing is so good or that I’m an introvert.

Music has been part of my life since I was a child. Listening to it and playing instruments. Not good enough to perform with one, but still playing for fun. I’ve tried a lot if different once, but there is one that I really would love to try. That is playing the violin. The only string instrument I have tried is the acoustic guitar, and that was difficult. So the violin must be even harder to learn to play. Maybe one day, I get to try one. Listening to music is more my thing, and I can’t live without it.

At the libary for once

old library entre
The entry to the library in my town. It was founded in the 1860s

I haven’t been to the library in recent years. I’ve been there but I haven’t got a library card for ages. Not until last week that is. I don’t read books that much but these days you can borrow almost anything from a library. You don’t even need to look for the books in person. You can do that online and let others find them for you. All you need is to pick them up. Of course, when you find it yourself you get the touch and see the book. Or whatever you borrow. When I was a kid I used to go to the library more often. Today I’m just lazy to go. We’ll see how things will go now when I have a library card again.

I do read books from time to time but it’s books about real life rather than fiction. I prefer borrowing books more than buying them. I would never even have time to read all those books. I haven’t even watched some of my DVD’s or Blu-rays. I could soon almost own my own library at home with all the CDs and other discs I have. I wouldn’t have a library with books. It would be about movies, TV shows and music. They say reading books is good for you but my patience is too short. I’ve tried to read ‘Lord of the rings’ a couple of times and I still haven’t finished it. It’s so much easier to watch the movie. I really admire people who read books because I’m bad at it. I’m easily distracted. The last book I read was ‘The Hobbit” I’ve already read it twice. Short books like that are easier to read. I don’t really know why I’m not into fiction books because I used to read them when I was younger. I’ve read biographies or books about photography. That kind of books keeps my interests up. Other times I do something else besides reading books.

I’m more into writing than reading. You can still develop your imagination without reading books. You read all the time. If it’s the news or insights of other people. I’ve seen a lot of movies and I also studied screenplay writing so that way I’ve also practised my imagination. I don’t understand some people complaining about movie adaptions. Like when Lord of the rings movies was out. “It’s not in the books. It’s not in the books” complains. Of course not. The movie is the imagination of the writers and the director. You can’t put everything in a movie. If it’s straight from a book, the movies will take forever. Any books. Making movies also cost money and it take times to do them as well. When you read a book, it’s from your imagination. But when it’s made into a movie, it’s someone else imagination. Of course, you can’t please everyone. If you prefer reading books to watching movies then it’s your choice.

Next time when I go to the library I will try to find a novel that I’m actually gonna finish. I’m not into books with a small font because that’s something I know I’ll never read to the end. It doesn’t matter how good it might be. Books with a small print stay in the library. What’s the point with a library card if you don’t use it, heh? So I will try to make a habit of it.

Music is my life

radioMusic has always been part of my life since I was a child. I’m one of those kids who lived they’re childhood in the 80’s. The fashion wasn’t the best but the music was awesome and still is. When I hear what they’re playing on the radio these days, I’m glad I’m not a teen. I’m not even interesting in new bands anymore. I use to follow the music scene but then other interest came a long. A lot of bands and artists who existed in the 80’s and 90’s are still around. Like Duran Duran who released Paper Gods last year and they’re also still touring. I wish they could get their butts over here as well. They’re one of the rarest bands that still make great music.

Without music life would be dull. My taste is wide. I listen to almost all kinds of music. Real music and not computerized noise you hear in young people’s stereos. There are good bands like Pet shop boys whose music is made by a computer but they do it with style. I love a good melody. I didn’t pay that much attention to lyrics until I got older. I don’t listen to Finnish songs that much, unless I happen to have the radio on. Finnish lyrics are sometimes stupid. Finnish bands who sings in English is a different thing. I’ve learned the language by listening to music. I have listened to other foreign songs but I never understand what they’re singing. I usually just listen to it if the sound is good. I’ve heard songs in Spanish, French, Italian, German but English is still the best.

I like buying CD’s. Nothing is better than having the real thing. Besides when you by a CD you can get a booklet. It depends on the album but it usually have lyrics and photos in them. That’s the best thing. You don’t get that when you buy digitally. I don’t really understand why people want to buy it that way. The same with movies. If you watch them online or on Netflix, you don’t get the same feeling you get from a DVD. Besides sometimes a disc contains extra footage which you don’t get when you buy digitally. That’s the best part of having a real DVD in your hand. The feeling you actually have it. The same with a CD.

Before there were sound, there were music. If there wasn’t music, the silent movies would be silent. Music made the movies they are today. I couldn’t be without music. I listen to it in no matter mood I’m in. I watch movies because of the music. I don’t listen to classical music but in movies it’s a must. Music is also important in TV shows but sometimes no music is needed to add more drama. For example when I watch Game of thrones, I don’t even realise there’s music in the background. The scenes are so intense without music.

Music is my life and the 80’s is my favorite decade. Also 90’s music has its great songs. Any music is good no matter what decade. Even the 2000’s has it. I listen to the radio every day. I even have it on when I sleep. I listen mostly to a radio station that plays old classics. Music is my first love and it will always be the love of my life.
