How has technology changed your job?

Daily Prompt 2024

Technology has become a big part of our world. It isn’t easy to live without it. But it should be a tool and not something you can’t let go. Some people can’t even walk without a phone in their hand. It can be dangerous, and anyone can hit you with a car. The worst thing is seeing young kids looking at their phones while walking. Don’t parents teach them anything? I’m glad I lived when technology wasn’t around the same way it is now. Some things are easier today, so technology is a good thing. It has helped me a lot.

If I had a job, technology would be part of it. I’m in an entrepreneurial course at the moment, and we get the material through email, so there isn’t much need to take notes. I find it hard to write and listen at the same time, which is the reason why I never became a journalist. Being an introvert, technology is a big help. For example, you can text people instead of calling them. But sometimes, you still need to talk on the phone, though. Calling strangers isn’t my thing; it never was. You know who calls you, which you couldn’t do before mobiles. That’s the best part about modern technology.

I want to have a job that you use with technology. I want to do something that says, Buy Now! I don’t know if anyone wants to pay for my work. That’s one of the reasons why I haven’t started my own business. Being unemployed has its own problems when it comes to becoming an entrepreneur. It would be easier if I had a job, but since I don’t, the financial side of it is uncertain. I don’t want to be in the job search circus anymore. There are many reasons why I don’t, but I won’t get into detail. Technology doesn’t help in job search. It might be easier to send applications through the Internet, but employers want more than someone who knows how to use technology. You do it yourself if you want to get something out of life. That’s how I write fan fiction, I didn’t find stories interesting enough, so I wrote one the way I wanted. The same goes for becoming an entrepreneur. You get to do things the way you want.

Without technology or the Internet, all this (blogging, sharing things) wouldn’t be possible. It should be a tool, and the same goes for AI in the future. It is a different matter if someone wants to exploit that for their evil plan. But let’s hope it won’t get that far.

Facing the biggest challenge yet

What is the biggest challenge you will face in the next six months?

Daily Writing Prompt

I’ve thought the biggest challenge I have in my life is finding a job. But then life turns it around, and then you realise it isn’t. I don’t know if the challenge will take 6 months, though. I hope it will be quicker. Since my dad died, I had to think things through. I thought my dad would still be around, but that wasn’t his faith. I’ve decided to live in my dad’s place, or it was my childhood home. I already own part of it. The challenge is how and when I will get my flat sold. The selling is not the problem; it’s the cleaning of the place. My place is more manageable to empty because I don’t have many things. Or so I thought. I might not have much furniture, but it’s all the other stuff. Maybe I should get two more pairs of hands to help me, but it’s embarrassing (the state the flat is in), and I don’t want people to touch my stuff. So now I have two flats, but I can’t afford both. The sooner I get my flat in order, the better. That’s the biggest challenge I must face. The other is the job thing because I need to get money somewhere. But I hope none will take six months because that’s too long.

You must take one step at a time, and things will eventually be solved. If you put up your hands and surrender, things won’t change. If you rush things, it will only become a mess, and then you get stressed. Life is full of different challenges, and you learn from them. It also makes a person stronger, and you learn how to handle the pressure of life.

Bloganuary: Nothing to be scared of

What’s the thing you’re most scared to do? What would it take to get you to do it?

Bloganuary 2024

I wouldn’t call it being scared, but becoming an entrepreneur is worrying. I’ve been to a course about it and researched about it. But the course was some years ago. I still haven’t gotten around to it. It’s a big step to take and many things to think about. You can’t claw your way to success. At least I don’t have it in me. What worries me the most is the financial prospect of it. The other is if I have enough skills to run a design business. I don’t have work experience in the field I’ve studied. I don’t even know what kind of services I want to provide. I don’t know if I can ask the right questions and if I fulfil clients’ requests. Even getting clients is a worrying thing. Networking is not my strongest suit, and neither is my portfolio. I only have schoolwork there. I don’t have any family or friends for whom I could do projects to fill it. I’m like a fish out of water compared to others. Many graphic design entrepreneurs have the same services and much more experience than I do. How can I compete with that? And they are younger too. They also show their faces, which I don’t want to do. It won’t help much if someone says I should do it because I’ve tried, but there never seems to be enough time to start.

If I got a part-time job, I could run a business on the side, but it is a different matter if I have the strength to do it after work. If I had a job, I would at least get paid. The trouble with having a job is getting up early in the morning. As an entrepreneur, you can have your own schedule and don’t need to go anywhere. You also don’t need to endure the pain of applying for jobs. If it was easy to find a client, becoming an entrepreneur would also be easier. It’s more challenging when you don’t have a great portfolio. The business owner makes it look so easy, but the truth isn’t as easy as it looks. Maybe I need more confidence in myself. I didn’t think entrepreneurship would be for me, but not finding a job has changed that thought. The other reason why I started to think about it was when I worked with clients during web design education in 2017. I could do the projects at my own pace, which felt good.

I should claw myself out of this insecurity and just do it, or I’ll regret it. I only need to get a grip on myself. I know I don’t want to be without work forever. Life must be something more than just being without anything to do. If no one else won’t give you a purpose, then you should give it to yourself.
