Bloganuary: You live and learn

I learned recently that I shouldn’t get upset at the neighbour for moving their furniture against the floor. Foolishly, I moved an armchair back and forth to pay back. I think I pulled a muscle or something because my right arm hurts when I lift my arm. It’s been for three days. I don’t know if I should go to the doctor or wait until it gets better. First, I had the flu for three weeks and now this. Not a nice way to start the year.

You live and learn. Life wouldn’t be the same if you didn’t learn anything new. I love learning new things, so I’ve studied a lot. I am studying filmmaking at the moment, and even if some of it is a repeat, there will also be new things to learn. It’s not only that but to experience new things on the side. We are taught by professionals who have been in the filmmaking industry for a long time. We have about screenplay writing, editing and filming. It’s an exciting subject. Later, we are going to a film studio where we are all day. That’s something you don’t get anywhere else.

Knowledge is never a bad thing. Whether learning from your mistakes or learning new things, every day should be about becoming better educated. If you don’t know about something, you can try to find the answer online. Or you can go to school and learn it. Learning is also good for the soul and mind.

Bloganuary: Achievement in year 2023

weekly planner

Bloganuary 2023, What is something you want to achieve this year?

First, I had an awful Christmas and an even worse new year; terrible flu hit me. It feels like I have never been this sick in my life. I have a cough, and I have had a high fever. The fever is worse at night. I don’t know how long this will last. It’s been on for over a week now. The flu gets you drained. It’s the coughing that does it. I hope this will be over soon. I want the taste back, and my ears popped. Now I feel horrible. I lose my voice after all that coughing. My eyes are tired, and they are also dry. Not a very lovely way to start the year.

Despite not feeling well right now, I will begin Bloganary about what I want to achieve this year. I don’t usually make any goals in advance because they don’t come true anyway. I have things I wish I could achieve. One achievement is finishing my filmmaking education and completing my assignment on time. The education is only part-time. There will be other things to think about, too, at the same time. The year will be pretty busy for me.

I have three concerts to see and the travelling to those. Then there are at least two movie premiers, Guardian of the Galaxy 3 and Indiana Jones 5. Those are the achievement that I’m sure it’s going to happen. Other achievements will only be a plus.

No break for the wicked

It’s not that I’ve had a busy year. On the contrary, it’s been quiet until October, when my filmmaking studies at Helsinki Design School started. The assignments aren’t as complex and time-consuming as the graphic design course. There is a lot of writing and analysing of movies. Two meetings in a row, we had about directing and screenplay writing. The latter is the most exciting subject for me. I’ve studied it before, so it’s a bit familiar. This week we had about casting, where two Finnish professional actors told us about the actor’s point of view of the movie and television business. They also played a scene that one of the students had written. There is a big difference between amateur and professional acting. An ordinary person goes through the script quickly, but a professional actor takes the time and, well, acts. This education has been fascinating and will continue to be so when the next meeting is in January. There won’t be a break in the assignments, but they’re not stressful, so it doesn’t matter.

If this year was quiet, I wouldn’t have that in 2023. Besides my studies, I’m going to a few concerts. First, the Robbie Williams one in March, and then in July, Pet shop boys. But wait, there is more. A sudden, surprising twist occurred. It was something I didn’t expect. My teenage dream will come true on June 27, 2023. The British band, Take That will come to Finland. The tickets will go on sale tomorrow (Monday 19th). They were here 29 years ago. My mother didn’t let me go at the time. I can’t let this chance go by. They’re a trio now when they were 5 at the time. I’ve only seen their concert in the movies and on television. It’s much easier to buy concert tickets nowadays, so I’m sure I’ll get a ticket. There will be a busy week at the end of June and the beginning of July 2023. First, Take That and a week later, Pet shop boys. So a lot of travelling next year.

Before all the above, Christmas break is upon us. I’ll be going on a cruise to Tallinn with dad. Maybe I will still post on this blog this year, but that will be after the holidays. In January, the Bloganuary begins again, which I will participate in. If I don’t write here this year anymore. Have a jolly good Christmas, and give peace a chance.
