An optimist jot something down

Jot down the first thing that comes to your mind.

Daily writing prompt

Sometimes, you don’t want to jot down anything special. You only want to write what comes to your mind—freewriting, if you like. You either do it with a timer, only write during the day, or have a break until you feel like writing something. There are times when I am an optimist, even if sometimes my posts can feel pessimistic. I prefer thinking positively; if I’m upset, it goes away as fast as it came. I don’t want to dwell on the past, but sometimes, old things come up. You can’t do anything about certain things, no matter how much you want to change the past. Life is about moving forward. Hopefully, you learn from your mistakes. If they are mistakes, that is. You should live for today anyway. That’s what I do. The future can be scary, but you must be an optimist to overcome your fears.

Laughter is the best medicine. I love watching old and new comedies, mostly old ones, because they were funny then. From the newer ones, I love Modern Family. I already watched the series once before. My favourite characters are Gloria and Cam. If you know the comedy show, you know who I’m talking about. I also watch comedy movies. Jim Carrey is my favourite funny man. Robin Williams was an old-time favourite. A shame he died, but his spirit still lives on. Laughing makes you feel better, too.

If you do things you like and others say you can’t, then it’s too bad for them. Life isn’t about doing things you don’t like. Everything made me feel bored, which is why I didn’t find what I wanted to be when I grew up. When I finally do, I don’t get to do them. How can I get better at it if I can’t do what I want to do? I wouldn’t have gotten better at English if I hadn’t written in English. I learned English in 5th grade and have significantly improved since then. The same should be done with other stuff, but no luck. I should make up projects on my own. But I’m too lazy to make them up. Or I have no imagination when it comes to that. My imagination is wider when it comes to writing make-up stories. But not to make up a project that could work in reality.

I’ve been thinking about buying a car, but how can I sell my dad’s car, which has at least five faults? I’ve been in a car shop with my dad, so that’s not a problem. But how do they sell cars to women? I’ve heard stories. I don’t know how much it costs to fix the old car. It’s still in my dad’s name. So much to do. My dad isn’t even buried yet. There was a funeral, but his ashes are still not in the ground. Argh, so much to think about. Everything goes so slowly when I have to do it all alone. But maybe it only feels forever when things don’t move along. I only need to be an optimist, and things will get done.

Now I’m hungry, so thank you for reading. Have a nice weekend.

List five things you do for fun.

Bloganuary 2024

Always enjoy the things you do. It can be for fun, or it can be a job you do. Even if your friends and family don’t like the same things, don’t let your fun time fall into a black hole. It can sometimes be annoying that no one else likes the same things as you do. That’s how I feel when I meet new people. They never seem to have anything in common with me. But I enjoy doing things alone anyway. Here are my Top 5 fun things I like to do.

  1. Blogging
    • I blog for fun. I also want to become better at writing in English. Blogging is like having a diary; others can read it, too.
  2. Watching movies and TV series
    • I watched movies on TV, but there were too many commercials. I have Disney Plus, so I watch movies from there. I also go to the movies. The last time I went was last week. It was a preview for a Finnish movie. I mostly like watching old TV shows; it was when TV was good. I’m not fond of what is being shown on television today. I love comedies the most.
  3. Cycling
    • When my mother was alive, we used to take bike trips to different places, but now I do it alone. I only cycle 3 seasons (Spring, Summer, and Autumn). I also take the bike when I go to the grocery store or the centre. Even if I have a driver’s license, I still cycle. It’s good exercise.
  4. Writing fan fiction
    • I write Real Person fiction in English. I haven’t done it in a while. I have them on AO3 (Archive of Our Own). It’s a good exercise for storytelling and also for getting better at English. I’ve always had a good imagination.
  5. Surfing the Internet
    • Sometimes, I’m not looking for anything special. When I have a lot of time on my hands, I search for whatever pops into my head while surfing the Internet. Sometimes, I find things I can learn something from and find something I haven’t even thought of. The Internet can be exciting; you never know what you can find.

So that was my Top Five things I do for fun. I hope this post doesn’t fall into a black hole.

Bloganuary: Not that crazy business idea

Come up with a crazy business idea.

Bloganuary 2024

I did a serious business plan when I studied entrepreneurship. It isn’t a crazy plan; it could be a serious one. My ideas aren’t crazy. They try to be as realistic as possible. The plan has changed since then. It was 2018. I must have been mad if I thought web design would be one of my services. You can call me a serial offender when it comes to making plans. But you are allowed to change your plans.

The general idea was to do digital graphic design. I would use my own photography and maybe sell them separately as well. My business would be for small and medium-sized companies based in Finland. Especially female entrepreneurs. My clients would also be foreigners living in Finland, so my clients could work with me in English. I can also work in the Swedish language. I’ve had clients when I studied web design, so working with people isn’t new. I liked it when I could work whenever I wanted, and for a while, I kept thinking about starting a graphic design business. I’m not a brave person who can start something like that. I don’t even have work experience in the field, and my portfolio isn’t super good. I thought about getting a part-time job, but I had no luck. I sent an application a few days ago but haven’t heard from them. Maybe that is a lost cause. It’s probably hopeless to get any work experience.

Having a business is a little romanticised. It’s hard work; they say it can take a few years to profit. That’s a bit of a turn-off. I don’t want to wait that long. I need to get money somewhere. It feels like I belong to a group of people who are destined to live on welfare. What worries me the most about having a business is finding paying clients. I don’t even get likes on Instagram. I have to like my own posts. Likes differ from getting a client, but marketing your business isn’t easy. Maybe it’s a crazy business idea of some sort, but it could also be a true one. I hope I can make a decision about what I truly want.
