Dancer in the dark

My late mother loved to dance, and her aunt was a professional dancer. My late father met my mother at a dance. But me, no, I’m the one who only dances in the dark and alone. I like watching other people dance, though. I watched the Finnish version of Dancing with the Stars, which my mother also watched. I feel my feet don’t cooperate with my brain. I hated discos in school. Dancing was too embarrassing. Other people watching me feel awkward. Maybe they wouldn’t care how I dance, but I don’t want to do it in public.

We had ballroom dancing in one class in school, but even then, I didn’t dance. It isn’t my thing. It’s good exercise, but I don’t care. It isn’t my kind of fun. I once applied to dance education, but luckily, it got cancelled. I don’t know why I applied. It was one of the first education I did after compulsory school, so I had to apply for something. I couldn’t imagine being a dancer. I’m too clumsy for that. I admire people who are great dancers. People who can dance like Michael Jackson are amazing. Especially young kids. For me, it’s easier to dance in my head than for real.

I will remain the dancer in the dark, and there I should stay. I leave the dance to those who like it and can do it right. I will remain to be the viewer.

Technology turned to a better future

How has technology changed your job?

Daily Prompt 2024

Technology has become a big part of our world. It isn’t easy to live without it. But it should be a tool and not something you can’t let go. Some people can’t even walk without a phone in their hand. It can be dangerous, and anyone can hit you with a car. The worst thing is seeing young kids looking at their phones while walking. Don’t parents teach them anything? I’m glad I lived when technology wasn’t around the same way it is now. Some things are easier today, so technology is a good thing. It has helped me a lot.

If I had a job, technology would be part of it. I’m in an entrepreneurial course at the moment, and we get the material through email, so there isn’t much need to take notes. I find it hard to write and listen at the same time, which is the reason why I never became a journalist. Being an introvert, technology is a big help. For example, you can text people instead of calling them. But sometimes, you still need to talk on the phone, though. Calling strangers isn’t my thing; it never was. You know who calls you, which you couldn’t do before mobiles. That’s the best part about modern technology.

I want to have a job that you use with technology. I want to do something that says, Buy Now! I don’t know if anyone wants to pay for my work. That’s one of the reasons why I haven’t started my own business. Being unemployed has its own problems when it comes to becoming an entrepreneur. It would be easier if I had a job, but since I don’t, the financial side of it is uncertain. I don’t want to be in the job search circus anymore. There are many reasons why I don’t, but I won’t get into detail. Technology doesn’t help in job search. It might be easier to send applications through the Internet, but employers want more than someone who knows how to use technology. You do it yourself if you want to get something out of life. That’s how I write fan fiction, I didn’t find stories interesting enough, so I wrote one the way I wanted. The same goes for becoming an entrepreneur. You get to do things the way you want.

Without technology or the Internet, all this (blogging, sharing things) wouldn’t be possible. It should be a tool, and the same goes for AI in the future. It is a different matter if someone wants to exploit that for their evil plan. But let’s hope it won’t get that far.

Repost: Listening to the voices in my head

Can’t Stand Me

When I read the daily post subject of today I thought it was about what you dislike about yourself. But when I saw it’s about what’s worse, hearing your own voice or seeing yourself on video, it’s almost right.
I would say my voice. It’s OK when I talk and record my voice but when I hear it in something else, then it’s horrible. I heard my voice on the radio once when I won a competition and I sounded like my mother. That’s the least thing you want to sound like. When I answered a phone, the person on the other end thought I was her. It was not the sound of her voice, the problem was I sounded like her. Like twins. I wanted a voice of my own. Sometimes I hate my voice. I can barely listen to myself when I’m at my worse.

It’s not that unbearable when it comes to seeing myself on video. I was on TV once and I wasn’t as horrified as when I see myself on photos. That’s even worse. That’s a reason I don’t post selfies and photos where you can see me. I prefer being behind the camera. I’m just not that photogenic. When I see myself in photos as an adult, the voice in my head says, ugly. It was different when I was a kid. I was cute then. I don’t know what happened. Adding a photo of myself to a CV terrifies me. I avoid every single photo of me as much as I can. I rather let people see me in real life than in photos or videos.
