Day 28: Ready or not, here I come

According to my statistics, the most liked is this Zero to Hero challenge and day 4, 3 and 5. In that order.

If you haven’t guessed it out already, this post is gonna be about how many likes I’ve got during this challenge. Not that is anything to brag about. I’ve only got some comments but that’s alright. As long as people like what I have to say, that all that matters. I’m not expecting to get any “lively” conversations. How many of those can you get from a blog like mine anyway? Unless someone really disagrees about my tastes.

I don’t really know what kind of things people really want to read about. I write for myself. Just like musician make music or writers write books. For themselves. If someone else likes it, that’s just a plus.

I’ve added a Recent posts widget. I hope I don’t have too many widgets. A mess it the least thing I want.

Day 27: Never go back

While the Zero to Hero challenge is coming to and end on Friday, I’m glad it’s over soon. Then again, there’s a little sadness that it ends. There’s been some useful tips and some things I already knew. But all in all, it’s been fun. I don’t know if I’ve got better at writing but at least it’s been regular.

I never go back to things I’ve been writing about. What done is done. I have no regrets. From now on I probably won’t post everyday. But I do have a reason to keep blogging. It’s also a good way, learning better English. Writing has always been my way of expressing myself. Especially when I’m not a very social person. Think first, talk later, is my policy.

In the mind of a dolphin kidnapper

I’m a fisherman from Taiji in Japan. My whole life is about fishing. It’s my livelihood. Without it, I can’t support my family. There are no other options then fishing. Since there’s not much money involved in fishing fish, I hunt white-sided dolphins and smaller whales. It’s part of our culture. It’s been in our generation for decades. It brings a lot of money to the families and to the the country. We toss the dolphins into skiffs. They weight about 400 lbs so it takes a few of us to toss them into smaller ones. Part of our captures are sold to marine parks for entertainment purposes and other part for food to different restaurants. Some people sees us as barbarians but for us it’s just natural. Animals are killed everyday for food so why not us. It’s just part of our job. Some of the dolphins can get hurt but that’s something we can’t avoid. When the day is over, I get home to my family with a good conscience.

That was the part of this week’s Weekly Writing Challenge Being a fan of dolphins, it really saddens me what they are doing in Taiji. So what if it’s part of Japanese culture. This is 21st century, not the dark ages. Who knows what they’re really thinking. If not at all. It’s all about greed and money.
