None will survive

There’s been so much death lately. Our 9th president Mauno Koivisto passed away May 12 and the funeral was broadcast on television today. Even though he was already over 90, his passing is still sad. Watching the funerals brought me sadness in my heart. Death is part of life and none of us will survive. Having experienced it in my personal life makes me understand how it feels to lose someone. Seeing the sadness in people’s eyes makes me sad too. You can still feel grief even if you don’t know the person. But it’s a different kind. When the situation is over, you move on. If it’s something personal, then grieving takes time. Some have longer lives than others. Sir Roger Moore had a long life even if the sickness took him. He was a good man and he did well for the world. He wasn’t just the actor who played James Bond but he was also an ambassador for UNICEF. It was a bit of a shock to hear about his passing but when you got to go you got to go.
When children die at a young age, it’s even harder. Their lives have been taken away too early and that isn’t fair. But life is hard no matter what.

Surviving has a lot to do with luck. Someone can work in motorsport and drive as fast as they can but no major accident happen. But then they can crash with a car while cycling on the road and their life is over. That’s what happened to the professional motorcyclist Nicky Hayden. He was cycling on a road in Italy with his friends and then got hit by a car. Unfortunately, he didn’t survive and he passed away this Monday. He was only 35 years old and well liked. Death doesn’t only come naturally and it doesn’t see age either. He was an organ donor so in a way, he will live on. People say motorsport is dangerous and it should be banned but it’s been proved many times that there’s a bigger chance to die on a public road than on a racing track. Some can live to a 100 and some can die before birth. Our lives are controlled by destiny. You can be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Death can come when you least expect it. Making the decision of who lives or dies shouldn’t be given to terrorists. What happened in Manchester where the bomb went off after the Ariana Grande concert, is a good example. Parents who picked their kids up loses their lives. Young and innocent people who haven’t done anything bad. All these terrorists who think they can spread horror across the world without consequences. Using religion as a weapon to their pathetic lives. They have no respect for human life. They have such low self-esteem, they try to take everybody down with them. They’re the bullies from hell. We shouldn’t let these animals spoil our moods. Some things you can’t control but you can control your emotions. Instead of spreading hate, it should be love. That’s the only way to keep the fear away. We all gonna die someday but let us live a safe life first. Good people deserves to have a life they can enjoy. There’s always someone with problems and they won’t let go easily. That doesn’t mean other people should suffer from their issues.

All life is precious and even if problems occur, we should still survive from them. There have always been bad people in the world and always will be. But if we give in, all will be lost. The good people who are still on this earth will keep the evilness away. Life is not always a bed of roses but we shouldn’t forget what’s good about it. It’s all about attitude and how you survive to stay alive as long as you can.

“There is some good in this world, and it’s worth fighting for.”

Ovation to our heroes

may the force be with you

2016
David Bowie
Prince
Leonard Cohen
George Michael

And now Carrie Fisher.

All these heroes of ours have all left this earth this year. What they all have in common is the legacy they left behind. I could go on and on about it but this post is more of an appreciation to them. They should be remembered for what good they did. It’s easy to remember negative things about people you don’t know personally. No one is perfect, not even those in the public eye. Some people seem to forget that they’re only human. They just happen to have a talent that had made them famous.

We all lucky to have experienced their great skills. They’ve entertained us with their music or movies. They made our lives easier to handle. Unfortunately they had paid a price for doing so. If it’s because of their fame or the pressure the press gives them. But they did something not many can. They made a great impression to a lot of people and tried to make this world a better place. They are our heroes who should get all the ovation they can get.

Since the deaths of George Michael and Carrie Fisher are the recent ones and most shocking to me, I write about that. I was on the cruise ship from Riga on Christmas Day. I was watching TV in the cabin and I watched a Swedish channel. I looked on the teletext and then I saw it, George Michael had died. He’s one of my favorite artists so I couldn’t believe it. It was quite shocking. The same when Prince died. I liked him since the late 80’s. I think ‘Careless whisper’ was the first video and song I heard of him. I was too young to remember the Wham days. I got their cassette years later. We got cable in 1987 or 1988 where they showed music videos. I think it was Sky (current Sky1) or Super channel (current NBC Europe) at the time. What’s so great about music is that it never dies. It’s not always that way that songs can still sound great years or even decades later. George Michael’s music is one of them. Actually I’m listen to those right now. His voice is amazing and he sure will be missed. The best one’s seems to die way too soon. RIP George Michael.

Today another death news. Before Christmas Carrie Fisher suffers a heart attack and today she’s gone. This year really has been a disaster when it comes to the entertaining business. It’s like there’s a curse that takes or our heroes away. At first I wasn’t really interested in Star Wars movies but when I saw one, I thought it wasn’t bad at all. I’ve seen all of them (except this new one, Rogue something) and the oldest ones are definitely the best. I’m the same age as the first one. It got Princess Leia for heaven’s sake. She might have been young boys fantasies but a role model for young girls. That girl could kick some a$$. I could not imagine anyone else playing that role than Carrie. It’s such a shame someone like her wasn’t allowed to stay on this earth any longer. For her mother, this is the greatest loss a mother can have. It wasn’t just a loss for her family and friends, it was also a loss for all of us. There will be one more on the big screen performance in ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ which comes out next December. She gave a lot to this world and we should always remember that. RIP Carrie Fisher.

Advent Calendar, Day 10

What is this?

This world is full of questions. Tough questions are the worse. Kids ask stuff. Adults ask stuff. It depends what you’re interested in. Questions never stop. When one question is answered, another question is asked. There are no right or wrong answers unless it’s scientifically proven. Opinions are a different matter. Those are not facts, it’s just a way of thinking.

There are questions no one knows the answer to. One of them is if there’s life after death. No one has lived to see it. We can wish there is something. If we do think there is, then it’s because we want to feel better. It’s easier to move on after someone dies when you think there is. Personally I hope there is a life after this. I don’t know if you can see the earth from heaven. Last night I watched ‘Thor’ and he could see the world from another dimension. In a way it would be kind of cool if our loved ones could see us but on the other hand it would be a bit disturbing. Imagine someone watching us from above when we’re doing something embarrassing. It would be quite creepy too. There’s CCTV for that.

My burning questions has always been, why do some people have more luck than others? Why am I never at the right place at the right time? Why do bad things happen to good people? Someone can live an unhealthy life and yet they get to live until 80 something. But when there’s a person who have exercised, ate the right foods, socialized with others and did everything right. Then they get cancer or another deadly decease. What have they done to deserve that? Why some get more punished than others? Life is unfair but it should be fair to good people. Innocent people should have a great life and bad ones shouldn’t have a life at all. Sometimes it feels what’s the point with life is. We all gonna die eventually so what’s the point? We collect stuff around us and we want to experience things but at the end of the day it doesn’t really matter what we do. We could all be just sitting around and waiting for death. But it would be quite boring if people wouldn’t do anything.

One last question. Why do I write about death in an advent calendar? It should be a happy event. Honestly, I didn’t know what else to write. There is a reason why I don’t blog everyday and it’s because I don’t have much to say. I couldn’t be a blogger all day long even if I would get paid for it. There’s too much pressure to be perfect all the time. I do admire those who do blog for a living. I really do solute you. I’m just not that crazy about blogging that I would want to have it as a job. I let others do the work and I’m just reading them. What if you really could get money by reading blogs all day? That’s a question I bet no one knowns the real answer to.
