Do what I tell you

What’s a secret skill or ability you have or wish you had?

Daily Prompt

A skill or ability I wish I had would be mind control. Then I could tell people how to think. They would think the way I do. If I wrote a story, they would give me the comments I would give. They would like the photos that I post on Instagram. I would use mind control for the good. I wouldn’t want people to do anything terrible. I would tell people to stop the wars they started, like the one in Ukraine. Turn bad people into good.

Mind control would be useful in job search. If I wanted a job, I would get it. Employers would hire people much easier. If I sent an application for a job, I would get an interview. I wouldn’t have to wait for ages for a reply. Things would move faster if mind control could be used. Anything you apply for will get a solution faster. If you want a loan from a bank, you would get it, and you wouldn’t need to pay it back.

Mind control has its downsides, but what thing doesn’t. To keep things stay stable, you would need to speed things up. Certain things take too much time. Life is too short to wait. If I could use mind control, there wouldn’t be a disagreement. If I told them what to do, they would do it. If someone said to me what to do, I would only say no, and they would let it go. I’m sure there are parents who wish they had mind control so they would get their kids to do chores at home. But then again, if the kids would also use mind control, things wouldn’t be so good after all. In the end, having your own mind and thoughts is much better than having mind control.

This post has no anachronism in it

This post has no anachronism in it because I’m a modern person. I don’t know if I understood the word right, though. Correct me if I’m wrong, but aren’t the movies ‘Back to the future’ and ‘Kate and Leopold‘ about that? There are characters in them that come from different times. Anyway, I belong in this time, but I yet don’t belong. Sometimes it feels like I’m the only one with sense. I always thought I was a misfit. I wasn’t a typical teenager. I liked staying at home. I didn’t want to spend time in a youth centre or hang around in shopping centres. I didn’t need to be there. People who don’t like staying home must have a reason for not wanting to be there. I have never had that problem. I have never understood getting drunk. I don’t even like alcohol and not forgetting throwing up. It’s ridiculous to drink so much you can barely walk. It’s embarrassing to watch. Drunk people are boring too. Trying to get a decent conversation with people like that.

I was born at the right time. At least, that’s what I thought when I was younger. I’m not sure now. Sometimes I wish I could be younger, and sometimes older. I’m lucky to have experienced the world without computers and with computers. Kids today have no idea how things were in the past. Certain things were better then. We weren’t occupied with mobiles. You talked to people face to face. Parents trusted their kids. Even the music was better than it is today. Young people had respect for older people. Now parents are lost on how to raise their kids. Mental issues have increased, and so on. The list is endless.

The good thing about the present is that things are more accessible. You can buy food without leaving your home. You can use different apps to do many things without queueing anywhere. I’m glad I am the age I am right now. For example, I’m not a novice when it comes to technology. Many seniors have trouble with that. Certain things are complicated for many different ages, like a job search. It has become a sci-fi project where you need to be perfect. People tell you how to answer questions in a job interview; if you answer incorrectly, you won’t get the job. Why are things made so complicated? It’s a competition where only the pretty and lucky ones get anything. Modern technology is one of the reasons to blame for the world’s problems.

It’s good that I’m not a kid or a teenager. They need to see fake photos on social media, and they compare themselves to that. If you get bullied in school, they will also bully you online. There are a lot of expectations from other people. I don’t envy them. A lot of things seem to end up on social media. When I was young, we didn’t need computers and mobiles to feel alive. We lived for real then, and no one bothered what you did in your private life. There was pressure from other people, but they were people you knew. No stranger told you what to do and what to look like. The internet has made life easier, but it has also given more problems. But you can never go back, so you must live with what you have. You should think about the positive side of it all. That’s how you go by.

Bloganuary: What is a treasure that’s been lost?

A treasure that is lost is common sense and the consideration of others. It seems that selfishness is growing in the world. People don’t care about other people’s feelings. They do things that suit them. If there are rules to go by, they have no respect for them. The rules are not made up for fun; they’re made to make people feel comfortable and safe. Take house rules, for example. There are rules in high-rise buildings when you can’t make noise after 10 pm, which means the whole week. But yet, some people play music or talk out loud after 10 pm, no matter what time of the week. Try to sleep in that noise. You don’t want loud neighbours to spoil your living. You have the right to feel at home at your own home. As a kid, I stopped playing music after 10 pm, which was everyday living. But now it seems that it doesn’t matter what time it is. People don’t care about other people. If you can’t sleep, you still have no right to have loud noises. You need to take your neighbours into consideration no matter what kind of lifestyle you have. If you can’t obey house rules, then maybe you shouldn’t live in a place with other people around.

Common sense is a difficult thing for some people. Certain people have no respect for people’s property. If something new has been built, it won’t take long before some idiot has spraypainted on it with some ugly scrabbling. The same goes for something that has been repainted. It’s some kind of obsession or sickness these people have that they have to spoil things with paint. It costs money to take graffiti off or whatever scribble it is. It must be challenging to think about other people’s feelings. It’s common sense to have empathy towards others. That’s a lost treasure these days. I think the reason is modern technology. It has made people selfish. It’s supposed to be a tool, not something that boosts your ego. If we lived when there were none of that, those people obsessed with technology couldn’t manage. I’m glad I grew up in a world where there were no internet and no mobiles. Life wasn’t the way it is now. Then people had brains to think with. It’s sad how kids today have no imagination when it comes to making up things to do. They need adults to tell them what to do. It’s not their fault. It’s just the way the world works. Kids are not given a chance when their parents give them mobile at a young age and leave them to their own luck. People are no longer allowed to think, and that’s a shame.
