What are you passionate about?

Daily Writing Prompt

Day 16. I’m not really passionate about anything. The word sounds like you’re mad and do crazy things. I prefer to call it things I like to do. I enjoy writing, but I wouldn’t call it passion. I like taking photographs, but I’m still not passionate about it. I can do without it. Recently I’ve taken photos with my mobile. I thought about becoming a professional photographer once, but then I realised it takes the fun out of photography. I wasn’t taking my camera everywhere like most photographers do. I could take photos if it was part of something, but I wouldn’t do it full-time. I like changes, so sticking to one thing would bore me.

Maybe my passion is watching movies. I saw my first movie when I was 3 years old. It was the 1937 animated version of Snow White. I still remember how scared I was when I saw the dark forest scene. I couldn’t watch any creepy stuff after that. I still can’t watch scary movies. The first time I saw Lord of the Rings- Fellowship of the Ring, I looked away when the orcs were shown. I belonged to a movie club when I was 10, where they showed children’s movies. I went there with my mother. I’ve seen a lot of movies in the theatre and on TV. I always watch them until the end. I can’t understand why people are in a hurry to get out. I’ve paid for the ticket, so why not stay. I also own several DVDs and Blu-rays. I just never seem to have the time to watch them. I’ve seen them more than once, but I also have discs I still haven’t watched. I’ve also studied writing movie scripts. I have experience in movie making. We wrote a scene, and then we shot them. It was hard work but fun. It would be nice to volunteer for an actual project one day.

Another possible passion is music. I listen to it every day on Spotify. I also have the radio on from time to time. Music has helped me a lot. It’s very therapeutic. I listen to it no matter the mood I’m in. I like all kinds of music. It depends on what I feel that day. Music helped me get through my mother’s death. Sometimes I play an instrument. I own at least 3. I only use one, though. In 3rd grade, I played the recorder, but I didn’t like it. Only when I became an adult did I learn to play it. Another instrument I can play is the synthesiser with one hand. I took classes when I was 6, but I only went once. My parents were displeased because they had bought me the instrument and everything. I have played it after that, too, but now one key doesn’t work. Now it’s at home collecting dust. I also own a harmonica but can only play randomly by ear. Without music, life would be dull.

Passionate or liking things, it’s the same, it gives pleasure. That’s better than doing something you don’t like, right?

List five things you do for fun.

Bloganuary 2024

Always enjoy the things you do. It can be for fun, or it can be a job you do. Even if your friends and family don’t like the same things, don’t let your fun time fall into a black hole. It can sometimes be annoying that no one else likes the same things as you do. That’s how I feel when I meet new people. They never seem to have anything in common with me. But I enjoy doing things alone anyway. Here are my Top 5 fun things I like to do.

  1. Blogging
    • I blog for fun. I also want to become better at writing in English. Blogging is like having a diary; others can read it, too.
  2. Watching movies and TV series
    • I watched movies on TV, but there were too many commercials. I have Disney Plus, so I watch movies from there. I also go to the movies. The last time I went was last week. It was a preview for a Finnish movie. I mostly like watching old TV shows; it was when TV was good. I’m not fond of what is being shown on television today. I love comedies the most.
  3. Cycling
    • When my mother was alive, we used to take bike trips to different places, but now I do it alone. I only cycle 3 seasons (Spring, Summer, and Autumn). I also take the bike when I go to the grocery store or the centre. Even if I have a driver’s license, I still cycle. It’s good exercise.
  4. Writing fan fiction
    • I write Real Person fiction in English. I haven’t done it in a while. I have them on AO3 (Archive of Our Own). It’s a good exercise for storytelling and also for getting better at English. I’ve always had a good imagination.
  5. Surfing the Internet
    • Sometimes, I’m not looking for anything special. When I have a lot of time on my hands, I search for whatever pops into my head while surfing the Internet. Sometimes, I find things I can learn something from and find something I haven’t even thought of. The Internet can be exciting; you never know what you can find.

So that was my Top Five things I do for fun. I hope this post doesn’t fall into a black hole.

Dreams and goals are two different things

Last subject in the Filmmaking course

How do you plan your goals?

Daily Prompt

As it happens, we talked about dreams and goals on the last day of the filmmaking course. Listening to my classmates’ goals, I felt like a pirate on land. My goals aren’t anything cool. I wish I could be brave and do something about it, but I’m stuck in a moment. If I was younger, I could start all over again. I feel like a loser compared to my classmates. They weren’t interested in me anyway. Maybe I’m a boring person or something. They were friendly to me, but only a ship passed by. Or a pirate ship, arrr. I was sad when they didn’t even ask if I wanted to accompany them after the day. I wouldn’t have gone anyway, but it would have been nice to be asked. They probably wouldn’t even hear me or even care. I won’t see them again, so it’s bygone.

My goal wasn’t to get into the movie business. It was only something I was interested in. Education is never wrong. Getting into a film school is too complicated. I don’t want to study for several years. Maybe the diploma is not a big deal for others, but I’m glad I went. Dreams and goals are two different things. I don’t plan goals too far ahead because my mind is indecisive. Big goals have never come true, so I have small goals. It won’t dream big either for the same reasons. This filmmaking diploma is a completed goal. I finished all the assignments on time, and I took part in every school day. Here’s another feather in my pirate hat.

Diploma

My next goal begins in October when I start an education about digital marketing. I hope to find something else to do too, but that’s uncertain. I don’t feel optimistic about getting a job. Even internships are hard to find. No one is looking for one, it seems. My goals and dreams are dashed once again. But you manage somehow because you’ll be wasting your life if you give up. If people gave up their dreams and goals, many things wouldn’t happen. You need to keep the faith.
