Well, I’m not having a jolly good time.

The end of the year is getting closer. I haven’t achieved anything that I had planned. I’m still in the same place as I was before. For example, I still have to watch my money. I thought I would have financial security by now, but no money is coming in.

I’ve had so many other things to think about besides blogging, so I didn’t realize I hadn’t blogged for two months. Blogging isn’t what it used to be. I wonder if people still care about blogs. Not mine anyway. I’ve been away so long; people might have forgotten about this blog. Even I am a little bored with blogging. There is so much else to do than think about blogging. It’s usually life in general that does that.

Even if I haven’t posted, I still had traffic, but now I don’t. This blog has reached over 100,000 views in the 13 years I’ve had the blog. This year, traffic has been higher than ever. Look at the image below.

Stats.

The only time I’m having a jolly good time is when I write fan fiction and go to ice hockey games. (I have a season ticket to my local team, HC TPS) And of course, when I take photos and videos. But I don’t get paid to do that. I wish I did, but no one buys.

I should be grateful I still have my health and that I live in a country without war. You should enjoy the small things and do something every day. I have taken up reading books. I never thought I would. I’ve read books before, but never anything longer than 100 pages. Right now I’m reading “The murder of Roger Ackroyd” by Agatha Christie. So I am actually having a jolly good time. And as long as the weather is nice, it’s good to read outside.

Something is going on in this blog’s stats. I have only posted 2 posts this year, and the stats are going wild. I have no idea where they come from. I have blogged for 13 years (14 this year), and I have never had so many views in a month. It’s so splendiferous. Whatever the reason, it’s a record.

Most views are from the USA. In December 2025, there were 1.3k views. Now suddenly it’s overflooding. The most views were 1.2k, which was in 2022. Other times, the average is under 600 views.

The Internet is a strange place. You try hard to get views on different platforms, and this happens. You don’t know if it’s bots or a visit from real people. You never know. It feels like bots are the only ones who are being counted. I don’t know what the sudden interest in this blog is all about.

Perhaps it’s also bots who follow this blog. You never know.

I don’t know if stats are vital, but I’m placid about my blog stats. The recent posts don’t get many views. It’s gone downhill, as you can see in the image below.

I won’t stop writing the blog because of this. It can feel disappointing for a few moments, but the feeling passes. Sometimes people don’t have time or interest to read blogs. I won’t start to think what the reason might be. Stats aren’t everything, no matter what people say. Stats isn’t a rule; it’s more of a guideline. Maybe there would be more traffic if my blog was about something else. But since it’s not, it’s obvious it won’t get as much as some other blogs with more “interesting” subjects.

This is my 10th year of blogging. It has taken time to get this far. Blogging is like life; you have some ups and downs. You get one like, or you get 30. People are interested in what you have to say. You don’t have to compare yourself to other bloggers. If you don’t write for others, then write for yourself. That’s how I think when I write something. It doesn’t matter how many followers you have because no one knows how many are genuine. Followers don’t mean visitors or views. I’m not even sure how many truly like a blog post. Is it the blog post banner they like or the text? These are complicated things. I’m placid about my blog stats. I enjoy writing, and I will continue to do so. I need to get my thoughts down somehow, and I might just share them with others. Blogging is sharing, after all.
