Taking a break from my busy schedule

Helsinki Design School assignment 2018, Single cover. Got 3/5 from this ‘Colours’ project

I have 9 days to finish my school assignments so I haven’t written the next bit about my holiday in Playa del Ingles. But it will come. It will take just some time. I’m just taking a break from my busy schedule to write this post. Busy in a way that I also have other things to do and places to go.

I finally reached 600 followers on this blog so thank you so much. I never thought I would get that many but 4-5 years later here it is. Time goes so fast I lost count how long I have blogged. According to the stats, this is the 6th year. At least I gained some experience from something.

Besides school work in Helsinki Design School is to make a portfolio. It’s part of the education. I asked my classmates on Facebook if anyone has started theirs but no one had. So I’m not the only one. It’s nice to know there are others in the same boat so you don’t need to feel alone. We have 4 more meetings in school before the portfolio presentations. The school ends on June 15. There is still time. Until the deadline is coming sooner than you think and then you’re screwed. I hope it won’t come to that. I already thought about in what format it’s gonna be so that’s better than nothing.

So there is the update. I’m mostly busy with thinking about design so my mind is not in writing about my holiday. As soon as my assignments are finished, then I can write about that. Until then I’m a busy bee. Mentally.

Welcome to my kingdom to my old and new followers. I almost have 500 followers on this blog. I never imagined I would even get any. But I guess patience is a virtue for a blog like this. Some followers have disappeared but I got new ones instead. So thank you for finding my blog. It’s still for writing down my thoughts and share my experiences. Even it got .blog on the end of the link, blogging will still remain as a hobby.

I found a post from August 2013 about 5 things I can’t live without. I did post before that too though. I was only testing the ice so to speak. It was only after my mother died in 2013 that I started to blog more in 2014. It’s been good therapy. It was actually The Daily Post (RIP), Zero to Hero challenge that I learned more about blogging. The updating the site is over but there’s still great tips there for any blogger who starting out. Just a free tip 😉 I learned there a lot.

This post is going to be my 855th post and that is a lot. It would take forever to read all of them. I don’t even remember what I’ve written. I rather look at the present and the future. I’m probably gonna repeat many times about the same things and that’s not because I’m over 40 and my memory starts to go. It’s more about the information I have in my head. There so much it spills over. It’s amazing how human brains work. We’re all like walking computers. If you don’t use your brain it will get lazy. It seems some people use their brains even less because of the smartphones. Luckily I don’t have one and I won’t fall for that trend. Unless I really, really have to.

So welcome to my kingdom. It’s been a long run so far. I hope you all enjoyed my blog so far. I just wanted to thank you all for finding this blog. I really appreciate it. This what blogging is about, sharing and caring. Greetings from a hot Finland and it doesn’t seem to stop for a while. This place really needs a cold shower (rain) but that’s wishful thinking even if the forecast says it will come. It better or it will be too tiring to do anything. That includes writing a new post to this blog.

No more The Daily Post

So this is it then. Nothing lasts forever and so doesn’t The Daily Post. Let’s take a moment of a retrospective time that has passed. It’s gonna feel so empty when there won’t be any new daily prompt nor any of that anymore. I’ve read a few post and comments on other blogs saying it’s WordPress who ends The Daily Post. That’s not the case, right? It’s a decision The Daily Post made and not WordPress. Maybe I just confused things. They have become the same to me. Whatever the reason, it will be different from now on. At least they will have the archive online. But yet it won’t be the same. It might feel really sad and all that but we will get used to it. We need to find another way to post daily. The world is full of ideas. The daily prompt was a big help to get post ideas. They even taught me English words I didn’t even know existed. Now when that’s gone, I don’t think I can find new English words I don’t know as easy as it was with The daily prompt. Not forgetting the other challengers.

Before I started with the daily prompt, I did the weekly writing challenge. When that ended, I should have seen it was the beginning of the end. But no one can predict the future. Life is about survival. Things come and go. We might feel sad and depressed about it but life must go on one way or another. Everything can’t be the way we want it to be. Life is full of disappointments but we have to accept them. Some things you just can’t do anything about. One is trying to change a person’s mind. In this case The daily post. They made a decision to end it and we should live with that decision. There is life after this. We can always go back to old daily prompt. That’s what I’m gonna do. Maybe even use the same words. I’m probably repeating myself since I wrote about this already but I say it again.

I can’t thank you enough The Daily Post Crew for all that you have done for us bloggers. You’ve been a great teacher and I wish you all the best for the future. This might be the last end for you but for us, the journey continues. Last but not least. Sharing really is caring and it’s all because of the greatness you shared with us. Three big cheers for The Daily Post! 🙌 🙌 🙌
