This forest is quiet

Forest in Eurajoki, Finland, 2016

I hadn’t realised I hadn’t written this blog in July at all. I have been busy. This forest has been quiet lately. The blog forest that is. My dad decided to quit his business altogether, and I helped him to tidy up the business premises. It’s been a lot of work and dirty. He was a goldsmith. He had the business for over 30 years, so there was a lot of stuff. We have someone to help to clean up the place.

This post is a reminder that I still blog. It has only been quiet lately. The month has gone so fast. This month, weather-wise, hasn’t been too hot over here. I’m glad I don’t live where the forest fires are right now. It’s just terrible over there. It is better to be outside than inside here, so I sit on the balcony or go out in the park. I have a puncture on both bikes, so I haven’t been able to go on bike trips. I haven’t had the time to go and fix them yet. I hope I have the time next week. I have quite missed the cycling thing. It’s good exercise, and you see the scenery much better than from a car.

The filmmaking course is over soon. We have two more meetings in Helsinki in August, and I have another diploma in my hand. It might not mean much, but I’ve studied something I’m interested in, and that is what counts. I wouldn’t get to be taught by professional moviemakers anywhere else. I also got to experience how things work in a TV and movie studio. Or how actors do things in a scene. I already knew about some things, but a repeat is not bad. I also got to meet new people and got to work in a team. Filmmaking is a lot about that. We had a lot of fun too.

This forest of this blog post is quiet again. Thank you for stopping by.

You have so and so many minutes to type

This post is not valediction of any kind. This is free writing. You usually do it in 10 minutes, but I type what comes to mind. It might take a minute or longer than that. It might not make sense, but it’s fun to do it. One piece of news, though. Finland is now officially a member of Nato. That’s all I’m going to say about that. This is supposed to be a fun post. Not funny. The fun of writing. Or typing. Either way.

I have no timer for this post. It takes so and so minutes. Like it says on the blog title. Spring is coming, but we still have snow here and there. Maybe it’s time to melt. I like spring. It’s better than summer. The sweaty season. Summers would be nice if it wasn’t hot. I will die or wish to in the future if the climate gets hotter. Maybe I’m not on this earth when that time comes. I feel sorry for the people who come after me. Those are the ones we should worry about. Even if we’re dead, we should still care today. Maybe we can’t stop climate change anymore. Sorry, this post shouldn’t be about serious stuff like that. Just mentioned it. Let’s move on, shall we?

Sent an open job application yesterday, so one each month is done. Won’t get a job, but I have done my part. Next week is back to school in Helsinki again. I haven’t done my assignment yet. It’s not an easy one, but I will get it done. I’m there to learn, so it doesn’t matter if I don’t get it. It’s not my favourite assignment. It’s about movie production. The school is on Friday and Saturday. I must go by bus on Saturday, so I hope we’re not going anywhere that day. I might miss that bus to that place. With public transportation, you never know if it will be on time.

More about spring. It’s nice that the snow melts and it isn’t chilly during the day. I can ride my bike to places. Especially when I’m going to the grocery store, and I don’t have to carry the shopping. That is heavy stuff. I don’t need to go to the gym; I carry shopping bags. I could go by car, but the store isn’t far. Walking is good for you. It makes your head clear. But cycling is even better. I don’t care about those terrible road stoppers, a.k.a. electric scooters. Do those companies who own them want people to get lazy? Those who use them can’t even park them right. Driving on the payment where people walk. It was so nice to walk outside when there were none of those anywhere. Winter is nicer because there are no scooters anywhere. Now the pain is back. Paris banned altogether them. Whoever invented those scooters are idiots. People have their friends on them. Sometimes there are three people on those scooters. They are made for one person. It’s not a taxi. No wonder young people get overweight when they don’t walk. I have nothing against those scooters; it’s the people who use them that I can’t stand. Not all are bad, but a lot are. They have no idea about traffic rules. It’s a jungle out there.

I think it’s enough free writing. If people read it or not. That’s the valediction of this post.

Bloganuary: Happiest day of my life

happy day book

I have had many happy days. The day when I finished elementary school. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. I was bored with school when I was 15. I’ve already been one extra year when I had to repeat 4th grade. I was also happy when the education in health studies ended. I didn’t want to be there in the first place, but I had to start somewhere. I was happy when I finished my two-year-old studies because I didn’t give up even if things weren’t always nice. I’ve been happy to leave jobs I didn’t like. I was happy to get elected to study at Helsinki Design School. I was happy to get a few job interviews even if I didn’t get picked. There were also happy days when I was a child and my sister was still alive. Life needs to have happy days, or life wouldn’t be enjoyable.

There is one day that beats every other happy day, and that was my birthday last year. I had been waiting for it for years, and then it finally happened. I saw Duran Duran in concert. It was a rainy day, but I enjoyed every moment. That was the happiest day of my life. Of course, it was also a happy day when I saw Robbie Williams in concert, but I didn’t have to wait for it for years like I did with Duran Duran. Since I saw the video of ‘The Reflex‘, I have wanted to see them in concert. They were supposed to be here earlier, but it was cancelled. So when it finally happened, and it was my birthday, I went. It was also the first time I lived in a hotel alone. I was lucky to have been quite close to the stage. It was a shame the weather wasn’t better, but when you finally get to see one of your favourite bands, it doesn’t matter. I got wet even if I had my raincoat on, but it was the happiest day of my life.

There will be more happy days this year. I’m going to three different concerts. The one I’m looking forward to most is the Take That concert. That’s a band I never saw in concert because my mother didn’t let me go. They are a trio now, so it won’t be the same, but they still sound great. That concert will be one of the happiest days of my life because one of my dreams will come true. It’s outdoors, the same place where the Duran Duran concert was. I’ll be close to the stage this time too. Hopefully. Let’s hope the weather will be better.
