Imagination comes naturally to me

writing pen

I’ve always had a good imagination. In school, I got good grades in writing. The teachers were really impressed. I used to read kids books which helped develop my imagination. These days I get inspiration from movies and television. And certain male actors 😉 I don’t read books that much anymore. I never seem to have enough of patients to finish a book. But books are not the only way improve your mind.

“You people have no imagination!” –Reepicheep (Narnia: Prince Caspian)

One time I wanted to become a writer. I even studied dramaturgy. I wanted to write movie scripts but I skipped that because it’s not as easy as it looks. It takes a lot of time and effort too. Also, it doesn’t pay that much. I found other ways to use my imagination. Writing fanfiction is one. Having writing as a hobby is less stressful and much more rewarding. Getting likes and comments from the readers gives me more motivation to keep going. I write them in English so I get more readers and it also improves my language skills. I don’t post everything I write online. I get a lot of ideas but not all of them get into stories. I really love using my imagination. It comes naturally to me. I do get writer’s block and then I don’t write. Ideas usually come when I don’t think about writing. Then there’s this one-word Daily Prompt. It only takes one word and my imagination runs wild.

You also need imagination in daily life. If it’s neither cooking or planning your day.  I never let myself get bored. I always find things to do. That’s what is good about having an imagination. I notice things others might not. For example, I noticed the outside door didn’t close properly (I live in a flat). No one seemed to see or care why it didn’t. I used my imagination and I found a reason why. Since it’s slippery outside in the yard there is grit on the ground. There was some grain of sand on the doorstep which prevented the door to close. I wiped it with a brush and door closed like it should. Someone would probably have called a locksmith to fix the door. Sometimes I wonder what people have in their minds. Maybe it’s just a lack of common sense or no imagination at all.

For some imagination come more naturally than to others. Unless you have a disease that prevents you from imagining things in your head. Your imagination gets better with practice. If you don’t use it, it doesn’t get better. Having an imagination keeps your brain active. I wouldn’t know what to do if I didn’t have it. Without imagination, life would be boring. I don’t need drugs or any other substances, I have my imagination.

Treat your mind

brain on blackboardOur brain is the most important organ we should treat with respect. Do things that need thinking. Read a book. Watch a documentary. Do the things you love the most.  Anything that doesn’t slow the mind. If we stop using our brains, it gets lazy and the risk of dementia or other brain disease increases. Treating your mind well is also good for the mental health. Especially positive thinking. If you give in when things go wrong, you get stressed. Everyone needs something to look forward to. You shouldn’t stop doing things you love if someone tells you to. What you do with your life, is no concern for others.

As long as I remember I have always done things I like. My mother tried to get me into a gym class when I was a little child but I didn’t feel secure with the other kids. My sister was the opposite. I think she was more like our mother. I was a bit of a rebel in school. I didn’t like homework and the gym was a pain even if I was good at it. I just hated to change clothes in front of others. I was, of course, shy too. I’m always been stubborn and did things that I felt like doing. I’m still the same. If I do things I have no interest in, my brain gets lazy. I have so much going on in my head at once, my mind has no rest. It’s unbelievable how much information a brain can have. Things that you love stays there and you feel motivated to continue. Stubbornness can also prevent your brain going soft.

If I didn’t have my imagination, I wouldn’t be me. I keep my mind at work by thinking about plots to my fictions. That what I love about movies with a meaning. They have complex plots and they tell a lot about human behaviour. I’ve always been interested in that. I don’t get inspiration from books, I get it from TV or movies. I like thinking so reality-TV is not my thing. If I want to rest my brain, I watch a comedy or write a story with no sense. Humour is good medicine for the mind. I can watch comedy shows that came out years ago and still laugh at them. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen The Golden girls or Frasier for example. Some things never get old. Treat your mind with what you love. That’s how I go by and it makes life worth living.

Release the creative beast

creative quoteCreativity is not only about how artistic you are. Everyone can be creative at some level. Some people are good at drawing. Some have the ability to play an instrument and write good songs. But also people who are good with kids and they know how to teach them. Release the creative beast even if you don’t think you are. There’s no such thing as being bored. You can always do things. It’s only the laziness that gets in the way. You don’t need to be a pro to be creative. It’s also about everyday life.

I’m creative most in the evening and sometimes at night. It depends on what mood I’m in. Sometimes I’m not creative at all and it feels empty. Creativity is my way of expressing myself. Writing fiction is one. I usually create ideas and plots in my head. Sometimes it becomes a story and sometimes I make up something new. I also read other people’s stories to find inspiration. When I can’t find a story I’m looking for, I write my own. I don’t expect others to read them when I post them online. Of course, it’s always nice to see likes and comments but I write to myself. I have to get ideas out of my head one way or another. Since I write in English, it’s also good practice. Writing is just a hobby so I’m not planning to make a money out of it.

I like to do different things so I don’t stick to one subject only. One day I write and the next I might play with Adobe programs on the laptop. Pinterest is a great place to find inspiration. Also, Instagram (@liuzzia5) got good ideas when it comes to photography. I wish my tablet would have a better camera so I could post on my account more often. I can post photos I’ve posted online but that takes time so I don’t want to bother. I also don’t like the touch the screen thing on the tablet.
My style of creativity is doing things on the computer. I can’t draw very well to save my life but with a mouse, it’s easier. I can doodle something but I’ll never become an artist. I leave that to the real masters.
