I sincerely thank you

thank youBlogging is more fun when you have followers. Without them, you’re nothing more than a personal diary person. There’s nothing wrong with that. If you want to write to yourself, just do it. I had a diary when I was younger until I found blogging. It’s almost like a diary but it’s for anybody who’s interested. I never thought it would become part of my life. When I first started, I felt like I was writing for myself and no one paid attention. It did put me down. I started to blog because I wanted to share my thoughts and not just to write. As the years have gone by (this is my 3rd year) I’ve realised, some bloggers get followers after a few months and for some it takes a few years. You shouldn’t compare yourself with others. You can doubt yourself. Questions like these might go through your mind.
“Why am I blogging when no one seem to read it?”
“Is it because I’m a bad writer?”
“Am I too boring so no one cares what I write?”
“Why does others seem to get followers but I’m not?”
“Am I doing something wrong?”

Maybe you’re not sure why bother blogging. You can try to find solutions online how to get more traffic but in the end is shouldn’t matter. Good things come for those who waits. Blogging is like having a career in music business. Some become stars over night and for some it takes years to find success.

Blogging is not a popularity contest. Most bloggers doesn’t want a career of it. It doesn’t matter how many followers you got. I for one don’t need thousands of followers. I don’t blog because I want people to like me. I don’t need that much attention. If you start to blog because of that, I suggest you do something else. Blogging should be fun and not something you must do to please other people. Tips you find online is usually for those who wants to boost sales for their company. For an ordinary blogger those tips doesn’t help much. The best help you can get are from other bloggers. We all have different experiences and sharing those are more precious than anything. No one gives better advice than real bloggers. In the end, you don’t really need anyone’s help. Maybe at the start but more you write, better you become. No one can tell you how to write. Give suggestions maybe but never how to do it. One advice doesn’t mean it will work on your blog.

I’ve recently got some more followers and I sincerely thank you for finding my blog. I did never even imagine people would. I started to blog regularly in 2014 and there had been times I have lost motivation to post. I have asked myself those questions I wrote about earlier. Some days I found my enthusiasm but there’s also been days I lacked it. I still kept going. I was writing what I wanted to write about and not what everybody else did. I want to be different because I dare to. I made a choice not to write about my personal life more than I had to. I even doubted if I should put a photo of me. I hate all these selfies people put online. When you those on social media all the time, you just don’t want to see them on blogging sites. Photos of yourself online in general is too superficial for my taste. Besides when you post photos like that, they always be there for everyone to take. I want people to know my brain and not what I look like. Photos are just that and it doesn’t tell what the person is like.
No matter what the reason for you is to read this blog, I hope you all stay because this post won’t be the last. I sincerely hope so.

Sincere

Wiping it under the bridge

RailwayBridge
The Railway Bridge, Riga, Latvia

“It has nothing to do with us”

There was a British comedy show from 1979 to 1982 called ‘Not the nine o’clock news’ and it was a big break for a certain Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean for you who doesn’t know) It was a show with sketches and one of them had that line. There are videos of it on Youtube if anyone’s interested. It’s really hilarious. If you’re into British comedy I totally recommend that.

That line is also too familiar in the real world. Some people think they can’t do anything about worlds problems so they don’t even try to make it better. They just complain or don’t care. “It has nothing to do with me” is their only thought. Actually there is things you can do because this world is yours too. You can’t just wipe things under the bridge. Like Tolkien wrote, “Even the smallest person can change the course of the future” Everyone can do something. It doesn’t have to be anything major. Just picking up trash from the ground is something. You can’t just expect others to do your dirty work. Not by only thinking about the environment but also about other subjects. Instead of spreading hate, spread love. The reason some people don’t care is because no one has ever cared for them. They have no respect for nature nor other people. Maybe living in denial is better. But the fact is, we all should care for this world because we’re all part of it.

It’s so easy not caring what goes in the world. In away it’s understandable. If something happens in a country far away, you don’t care much since it doesn’t happen to you. But you can’t totally ignore it. No one wishes to be in their shoes. If people would educate others to think differently, maybe this world would be a better place. If you spread negative thinking, kids never learn to be positive. If you keep telling them you can’t change anything, then they start to believe it. There are things that is out of your control but attitude is something you can do something about. Even adults can learn to think differently. It can be harder but if you don’t try, you never know.

One of my peeves are “it always been like that” So what if it has? You can change cultures or attitudes. It doesn’t have to be like it always been. If you go with that attitude you can never change anything. You don’t have to live like your parents or grandparents did. You don’t have to do anything that has always been like that. For example in Finland the alcohol culture has always been a big part. It goes from generation to generation. If you don’t drink to get drunk, you’re a lame person. You can’t party without it. But we’re not at war like our ancestors. Maybe alcohol was used because war was horrible and people wanted to forget. It doesn’t make you forget, it’s just a temporary escape. They serve alcohol everywhere because it’s always been like that. But it doesn’t have to be. You can change things. It’s about attitude but if you can’t change that then we got a problem. When I hear someone say “it’s always been like that” I get agitated. If no one wants to change, who will. Someone must take the first step and others will follow.

Denying problems, yours or others only makes it worse. It seems people stopped caring. Luckily there’s still people who wants change and their doing something about it. That’s what the world needs, someone who encourage others to do the same. Like Michael Jackson sang, “If you wanna make the world a better place. Take a look at yourself, and
then make a change” That’s something everybody should remember. Wiping problems under the bridge is not the right way because we have to think about the next generation that comes after us. It might not sound important right now but selfishness will destroy it all. A changed attitude is better than no change at all.
