Bloganuary: Conquered my biggest fear

no more fear

My biggest fear was dogs. I was chased by one when I was 6 years old. I was walking in the park with my mother when I started to run down the hill. Then a woman had her dog running free, and the dog began to chase me. I have never run so fast in my life. After that, whenever I saw a free dog, my legs started shaking, and my heart started beating fast. I avoided every opportunity where there was a dog. Even if they were on a leach, I was terrified. I couldn’t go to friends who had dogs. I was also scared of other animals. But for some reason, bunnies didn’t have the same effect. One friend had a cat, so they had to put it in another room when I visited. I told people I didn’t like pets, but I was scared of them. I didn’t dare to tell anyone because I thought they would let their pets attack me out of spite. Every time a dog approached me, my legs shook. Fear limits your life, and I thought I never get over it.

But I don’t know what happened years later. I didn’t do anything. My fear of dogs disappeared when I became an adult. I was over 30 or something. Suddenly, my legs weren’t shaking, and my heart was calm. If a dog smelled me, I wasn’t scared. I still don’t touch them, but I have conquered my biggest fear. It’s liberating and feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders. I don’t need to avoid dogs. I can visit a person with one without any fear. I fear other things (like needles) but it isn’t as bad as the one I had towards dogs. They are pretty lame compared to that one. Some fears disappear in time without reason, and some you need to face. Conquering fear is an achievement in itself, and it’s something to be proud of.

Bloganuary: My 3 fave ways to travel

Here are my 3 favourite ways to travel

Number One: By cruise ship

I live in a harbour city, so it’s easy to travel by ship. Everything is done for you. The food and the entertainment. You sleep in a cabin. All you need is to relax. I’ve been on a cruise to Stockholm the most. Then to Riga and Tallinn at Christmas. Then to Saint Petersburg, Russia some years ago.

Number Two: By train

It’s a bit more expensive than by bus, but it’s the fastest. I travel to Helsinki twice a month. The most challenging part is the sleeping arrangement. I find it difficult to sleep sitting up, so my sleep is light. I’ve also travelled to Lapland by train, but then you have a bed to sleep on.

Number Three: By bus

It’s the same on a train. I can’t sleep sitting up, but at least I can rest a little bit. You can’t move like you can’t on a ship or a train, but it’s easier than driving yourself. I don’t like to drive long distances either, so the bus is my 3rd favourite way to travel.

Bloganuary: A billion dream

pile of money

Blogaunuary: If you had a billion US dollars, how would you spend it?

In my case, it’s in Euros. But money doesn’t make you happy. Having money is good, but having a billion would be a nightmare. Many problems exist worldwide, so I wonder if a billion is enough. It’s hard to imagine what to do with all of that money. Many homeless people would have homes, that’s for sure. The way people treat poor people is appalling. Greed is a terrible thing. Many problems would be solved if people with lots of money would give something back to society. Now they only use the money for their own amusement. Certain people shouldn’t have all that money.

If I had a billion, I would try to get rid of it as soon as possible. I would keep enough so I wouldn’t need to find work and have no money issues. The rest I would give to different charity organisations. One of them would be for cancer and other deadly disease research. The other would be for saving the whales and other sea creatures. There are so many ways to get rid of that billion. But there is no money, so there is no help. It’s all a billion dream, after all.
